Non-Surgical Nose Jobs

Do you dislike the appearance of your nose? Do you also dislike the idea of undergoing surgery to change it? Then you may be a prime candidate for what is informally called a "non-surgical nose job. This procedure uses an injectable dermal filler such as Restylane® or Juvéderm® to alter and shape the nose. Non-surgical rhinoplasty doesnt require invasive surgery, and recovery times are minimal; swelling and bruising are not usually a problem.
Some of the issues that can be corrected with dermal fillers include:
  • Building up a flat nasal bridge
  • Extending a nasal tip
  • A small reduction of nostril size
  • Evening out a nasal bump or hump
  • Correction of retracted columella
  • Filling a nasal sidewall depression
Virtually any issue of nasal appearance can be ameliorated with the expert application of dermal filler. However, non-surgical rhinoplasty is an augmentation procedure, so it cannot reduce the size of someone's nose or correct functional problems with the nose.

What is Dermal Filler?

There are various types of dermal filler, but todays gold standard is the hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body. Because our production of this fluid carbohydrate decreases as we age, it is sometimes referred to as "the fountain of youth. When were younger, its present in large amounts in the spaces between skin cells, where it provides moisture, plumpness, firmness and suppleness to the skin.
The primary use of dermal fillers in injectable cosmetic procedures is to reduce the effects of aging. Many clients seek out the procedures to help to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines, to plump out lips and cheeks, to eradicate sagging skin under the eyes and at the corners of the mouth, and otherwise help them to attain a more youthful appearance.
The safety, affordability, and versatility of hyaluronic acid injectables make them ideal for non-surgical rhinoplasties. The medical professional injects the filler under the skin with a fine needle, reducing the pain felt by the client. There is no need for general or even a local anaesthetic, although often a topical one is applied. Procedures generally take less than 30 minutes, and one can resume normal activities immediately afterward.

Aspects to Consider

Although there are many advantages to non-surgical nose jobs, there are a few drawbacks. For one thing, the effect achieved is not permanent, and the procedure must be repeated once every six to ten months.
Choosing who will perform your procedure is a very important decision. Some doctors perform these procedures in their offices, and even beauty spas sometimes offer dermal filler services. But the best option is the clinic that specializes only in injectable treatments. These clinics are completely familiar with all types of procedures, all injectable products, and their employees have much greater experience. Their whole focus is on this type of procedure, and they therefore provide top-of-the-line service.
Make sure that the clinic you choose has trained medical professionals available to talk through every aspect of the procedure with you in advance, and to perform the procedure.
